A man has died in a head-on crash in Swindon after falling unwell at the wheel.
Emergency services were called to the incident in Akers Way, close to Nova Hreod Academy, at around 11.30am this morning (Sunday).
A driver, a man aged in his 60s, suffered a medical episode – which resulted in his vehicle veering into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
He was found to be in cardiac arrest and despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Specially-trained roads policing officers attended the incident and decided not to launch a full-scale forensic collision investigation in the circumstances.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Akers Way has reopened following a road traffic collision earlier today.
“Officers were called to the scene around 11:30am on this morning (Sunday).
“Sadly, following what is thought to be a medical incident, a man in his 60s died at the scene.
