A man lifted a woman’s dress and touched her bum cheek in a Swindon pub.
Lukasz Zareba sexually assaulted the victim on the dance floor at The Kings Arms in Old Town shortly after midnight on a weekend in October last year.
The 40-year-old pervert was immediately confronted by the woman, who photographed him on her mobile phone before informing security officers and the police.
Keith Ballinger, prosecuting, said the defendant was arrest shorty after the incident and in interview, he denied the crime and claimed he didn’t know when or where it happened.
At trial at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 21 September, Kereba was convicted of sexual assault and returned for sentencing this morning (Thursday).
His defence solicitor said that “obviously [the victim’s] physical and mental wellbeing wasn’t affected” because they remained at the pub drinking.
She told the bench that “it was just a hand on her bottom that lasted just a second” before adding: “He’s a good man, he’s just made a mistake”.
Magistrates sentenced him to a 18-month community order with the requirement to complete 120 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation activity sessions.
The defendant, of Estella Close, Haydon End, Swindon, must also register as a sex offender for five years and pay £620 costs and a surcharge of £114.
