A cyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a motorbike yesterday (Thursday, 24 August).
The road traffic collision happened on a crossing near the entrance to Coate Water in Marlborough Road at approximately 6.50pm – sparking a significant emergency response.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, tasked from its base near Shaftesbury, landed at the scene to provide specialist assistance in support of local ambulance crews.
In the incident, a motorbike hit a bicycle. The cyclist, a man aged in his 60s, sustained serious injuries – including pelvic injuries. The rider of the motorbike was uninjured.
The bicycle was left in a mangled wreck at the roadside as forensic collision investigators attended to carry out enquiries until the level of the victim’s injuries were ascertained.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that “enquiries into the collision are ongoing” and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
