A man has been arrested after a woman was ‘kidnapped’ from a care home.
Police in Dorset launched an urgent search for 73-year-old Angela Coombs on Friday (27 August) following reports she had been taken from a facility in Verwood without the proper consent.
Officers located her the following day, Saturday, and arrested a 66-year-old man on suspicion of kidnap. He is believed to be known to the victim.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Detectives investigating reports of concern for the welfare of an East Dorset woman are pleased to confirm she has been located.
“Dorset Police received a report at 3.13pm on Friday 27 August 2021 that Angela Coombs, a vulnerable 73-year-old woman, had left an address in Bingham Road in Verwood with a man aged in his 60s who was known to her.
“It was alleged she had been taken away without the proper consent.
“Following enquiries and searches by officers, with assistance from colleagues at Hampshire Constabulary, Angela has now been found safe.
“A 66-year-old Verwood man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and is assisting detectives with their enquiries.”
