A man has been airlifted to hospital after a stabbing in Swindon town centre.
Emergency services were called to Temple Street at around 2pm today (Friday) following reports of a casualty with knife wounds.
Ambulance crews, including critical care medics from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, provided urgent care at the scene.
The victim, a man, has since been airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital for treatment.
The pedestrianised section of the road, alongside the Premier Inn, has been cordoned off as detectives from Swindon CID attend.
Officers were seen cleaning up a significant pool of blood in the car park of Change Grow Live, a drug and alcohol support service.
Huge numbers of drops of blood can be seen across the crime scene and in a nearby alleyway. The victim is thought to have staggered for some distance with his injuries.
It’s thought a suspect fled the scene along Whitney Street and Combrey Street. It’s not yet known if any arrests were made.
