A man is accused of arranging to sexually abuse a nine-year-old girl in Chippenham.
At Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 1 March, Mark Pegram appeared to answer charges of arranging the commission of a child sex offence and possession of an incident image of a child.
Natalie Cheesman, prosecuting, alleged that the 64-year-old engaged in a number of conversations with a law enforcement officer online – who was posing as a woman with a nine-year-old daughter.
It’s said the communication was “highly sexualised” and Pegram allegedly went on to suggest that he would like to touch and kiss both her and the child.
Ms Cheesman claimed the discussion developed into being about other sexual activity involving them both and he explains exactly what he’d like to do.
The defendant, of Chase Side Avenue, Enfield, was later arrested by police in Chippenham in November 2021.
Defence solicitor Nicola Hutchinson said that due to missing case files, Pegram was unable to enter pleas to any charges and offered no indication.
The magistrates sent the case to Swindon Crown Court for a plea hearing on 31 March. He was released on unconditional bail.
