Four people have died in a collision on the M5 in south Gloucestershire this afternoon.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary were called to the scene of the collision between J15 and J14 at around 2.30pm. The crash involved several vehicles, including a lorry.
The lorry is said to have crossed the central reservation from the southbound and collided with oncoming traffic on the northbound carriageway.
The motorway is closed in both directions between J16 and J14 – it’s expected to remain closed until later tonight.
A police spokesperson said: “The closure is likely to be in place for a considerable amount of time and we’d ask people to avoid the area.”
