A girl hit by a car in Yatton Keynell is still in hospital – after undergoing nine surgeries.
14-year-old Isabel was rushed to Bristol Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a suspected drink driver in The Street on 15 August.
She was struck by a silver Volkswagen Bora, with the man at the wheel – aged in his 30s and from Wick in Gloucestershire – arrested. He’s since been bailed.

Isabel’s recovery is expected to take many months, with a GoFundMe set up by Jessica Phillips, a member of the local community who has permission from the family.
“That night changed Isabel’s and her family’s lives forever”, the fundraiser reads.
“Thanks to the incredible work of the medical team, Isabel is now stable.
“However, she has suffered life-changing injuries, has already undergone 9 surgeries already and faces a long stay in hospital and a long road to recovery.
“To help ease the financial strain on Isabel’s family during this unimaginably difficult time, this page has been created. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.”
Jessica says that any funds which are not used by the family to cover medical expenses like walking aids and therapy will be donated to to Bristol Children’s Hospital, and The Grand Appeal.
