A man has been ‘struck in the head with a machete’ in a violent attack in Swindon.
Police responded to reports of a disorder in the Downton Road area of Penhill at approximately 1.10pm today (Tuesday).
On arrival officers found a man, aged in his 20s, with a cut to his head. Wiltshire 999s understands the injury was caused by a machete.
A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said that one double-crewed ambulance and a first responder were sent to the scene.
The patient was conveyed to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon for treatment. Wiltshire Police confirmed that his wound is not thought to be serious.
The force is investigation, and is appealing for witnesses to the incident – or anyone with information – to contact them on 101 quoting log 166 of 22 September.
