A suspected drink driver has been arrested after a girl was hit by a car in Yatton Keynell.
The 14-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following the serious crash at around 12.15am this morning (Friday).
The child was struck by a silver Volkswagen Bora in The Street, near Home Fields.

She remains in a critical condition at Bristol Children’s Hospital. Her immediately family are aware.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a man aged in his 30s and from Wick in Gloucestershire, was arrested.
He is being held in custody on suspicion of drink driving and causing injury by dangerous driving.

The road is closed in both directions for forensic collision investigation work – and isn’t expected to reopen until this afternoon.
Closures are in place between Biddestone Lane and Church Farm.
