Four youths were seen running away from a football club arson attack, it’s claimed.
Fire crews were called to a blaze involving two storage containers owned by Swindon Supermarine Youth FC on Wednesday afternoon (28 August).
Firefighters extinguished the flames at Webbswood Stadium Complex, and believe it was started deliberately.
It’s claimed four youths were seen running away from the scene moments before emergency services were contacted about the incident.
The contents of the containers, including training, tournament and pitch marking equipment, were damaged or destoryed.
In a statement released by the club, a spokesperson said: “We’re sorry to have to report that this afternoon [28.08.24], our two storage containers at the Webbswood Stadium Complex – along with their contents (all our training, Summer Tournament, pitch marking equipment etc) were subjected to an arson attack, meaning we’ve lost the majority of it all.
“Our appreciation to DWFireRescue for their efforts – we’ll have another update once we know the full extent of our losses.”
Anyone with information should contact Swindon Supermarine or Wiltshire Police.
