Five people have been arrested after ‘suspicious activity’ in a Swindon car park.
Police were called to reports of suspects looking into parked cars and trying door handles in Cricklade Road at around 4am today (Thursday).
The people reportedly got into a vehicle – a red Mercedes – and drove away.
Roads policing officers, armed police and a dog unit were involved in stopping the vehicle a short time later, and searches were carried out.
The found gloves, face coverings and tools, including a chisel and a crow bar.
The occupants three man aged in their 20s, a woman in her 40s and a teenage boy were arrested on suspicion of going equipped for burglary.
Two of the men were also arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug. All suspects remain in custody for questioning this afternoon.
