Two men have been spared punishment after a raid by police uncovered a knife and drugs.
Owen Bygraves, 52, and Jake Arnold-Bygraves, 29, pleaded guilty to possessing the class B drug cannabis at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (31 August).
Owen Bygraves also admitted possessing a First Blood Rambo knife in a private place – which had a blade on one side and numerous serrations on the other.
The charges followed a raid carried out by Wiltshire Police on a flat in Belle Vue Road, Old Town, on 7 July this year – where Owen Bygraves remains a resident.
Jake Arnold-Bygraves, of Victoria Cross Road, Wroughton, was handed a six-month conditional discharge for the drugs possession offence.
Owen Bygraves was handed the same sentence by District Judge Joanna Dickens, despite the additional knife offence. Both defendants must also pay a £26 surcharge.
A conditional discharge is when a person is convicted of a crime but is not handed any punishment. If they commit another crime within the discharge period, they will be punished for the old offence as well as the new one.
The cannabis will be forfeited under section 27 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and destroyed by the police. The knife will also be forfeited and destroyed.
