A Devizes man has been jailed after being caught drug dealing – yet again.
On 7 November, Swindon Local Police Tasking Team officers detained 25-year-old Oscar Webster after spotting suspicious activity in a car park at the Orbital Shopping Park in Swindon.
The defendant, of Massey Road, was already serving a suspended sentence for supplying cocaine when he was seen dealing drugs. He fled on foot but was caught a short distance away.
During his attempt to evade arrest, Webster discarded his mobile phone, car keys and jacket in an effort to hide evidence and change his appearance.
Officers later found a quantity of cocaine in his car, along with the phone he had tried to dispose of. The device contained messages linking him to the supply of cocaine across several towns in Wiltshire.
Police seized more than £1,300 worth of Class A and B drugs, £400 in cash, and several mobile phones.
Webster was charged and later pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine in Wiltshire.
At Swindon Crown Court on 12 December, he was sentenced to 44 months in prison for the latest offences. The court also activated his previous 16-month suspended sentence, bringing his total jail term to five years.
Acting Sergeant Sam Young, from the Local Police Tasking Team, said: “Webster is a repeat offender who clearly hasn’t learned his lesson from his previous conviction for drug dealing.
“Knowing he was on a suspended sentence for supplying cocaine, he tried to flee from officers having been seen drug dealing, but he was no match for the LPTT.
“I’m pleased he has pleaded guilty and now been jailed for his offences, and we will continue to be robust with those who bring harm to our streets.”
