A cyclist has suffered a head injury in a serious crash with a van in Swindon this morning.
Wootton Bassett Road is currently closed in the direction of Mannington Roundabout as collision investigators work at scene — on the pedestrian crossing near Carphone Warehouse.
Specialist roads policing officers at the scene told our reporter Daniel Jae Webb that the cyclist’s injuries ‘aren’t as serious as first thought’.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are currently in attendance at a serious collision involving a van and a cyclist at the Mannington roundabout near to John Lewis.
”The cyclist is believed to have suffered a head injury.
”While emergency services deal with the incident, Wootton Bassett Road has been closed at the Mannington roundabout towards Swindon town centre.
”This is likely to cause significant delays in the town so please avoid the area if possible.”
