A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the Longleat estate.
Volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue – who were training in the area – were first on scene yesterday (Sunday 29 January), providing emergency medical care to the casualty.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance landed close to the incident at Wind Hill Bike Park, off The Red Way, and the charity’s critical care medics deemed the cyclist to have suspected spinal injuries.
The search and rescue volunteers helped move the casualty off of steep terrain and into the waiting 4×4 vehicle. They were then driven to the air ambulance.
The patient was airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
Wiltshire Search and Rescue is a charity made up of more than 70 volunteers who are regularly deployed to assist police with high-risk missing person searches. Find out more here.
