An elderly woman’s in a serious condition in hospital after she was found floating unconscious face down in the River Avon this morning.
Emergency services – including Wiltshire Air Ambulance – were involved in the water rescue operation in Monkton Park at around 8.30am.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service sent one fire crew, a water rescue unit and an officer to the scene, working alongside police and paramedics.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance flew to Royal United Hospital in Bath from the scene, landing there at 9.35am. The woman is said to be in a serious condition.
A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service: “We responded with two land ambulances, an air ambulance and a senior paramedic. Our staff treated a female patient at the scene and transported her to hospital by land ambulance in a serious condition.”
Wiltshire Police says it does not believe there are any suspicions circumstances around the incident, but their investigation continues.
