Captain Sir Tom Moore has died in hospital, his family have confirmed.
The 100-year-old veteran was admitted to hospital with pneumonia several weeks ago, but last week tested positive for coronavirus.
The retired army officer was catapulted into the spotlight when vowed to raise £1,000 for the NHS when COVID-19 began to take its toll on the service back in April 2020.
He completed 100 laps of his patio, aided by a walking frame, but smashed his fundraising target by millions of pounds. More than £32,000,000 was raised in total.
