A Bradford on Avon man has been banned from libraries over alleged stalking.
Daniel Cavendar, who owns antique shop Time Traveller’s News in Church Street, recently appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court.
Wiltshire Police made an application for an interim stalking protection order (SPO) following the alleged stalking of a woman, which has been reported to them.
The court granted the civil order, which in the event of a breach can carry a term of imprisonment, for 30 days or until the final determination of the application if sooner.
Under the SPO, the defendant must not enter any libraries in Wiltshire.
Cavendar must also allow police officers to enter their registered address between 8am and 8pm to conduct a risk assessment, monitor devices and manage compliance.
He is also required to re-register their address and phone number at a police station every 12 months, within 365 days of the last registration.
The order prohibits the defendant from contacting the named complainant, either directly or indirectly, or encouraging anyone else to do so. This includes contact in person, by phone, letter, email, message or through social media.
The defendant is also banned from carrying out any form of surveillance of the named complainant, or encouraging another person to do so. This includes following her, recording images of her, or attending or waiting outside any place of work, education or any other location they reasonably believe her to be.
They must not attend any place they believe the named complainant is present, or remain there once aware of her presence.
The order further prohibits the deletion of call data, SMS messages or other communications, including those on applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook or other social media platforms, without prior approval from their Offender Manager.
The defendant must notify police of the details specified in section 9 of the Stalking Protection Act 2019 within three days.
Failure to comply with any term of the order is a criminal offence and could result in a prison sentence or detention.
