A Black Lives Matter protest is to take place in Swindon this weekend following the alledged murder of George Floyd by a police officer in the United States last Monday.
The event will take place on Saturday at Regent Circus, with hundreds of people expected to attend despite the regulations in place prohibiting public gatherings whilst yeh UK fights coronavirus.
The protest has been organised for 1pm, with those joining encouraged to bring relevant signs, LGBTQ flags and make speeches if they wish to.
The unknown organiser has asked those partaking to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in light of the current pandemic.
A poster on social media said: “Too many black lives have been taken and we want justice.”
We large police presence is expected; we’ve contacted Wiltshire Police for comment.
