Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is warning Old Sarum residents to to keep their windows and doors closed while they tackle a major blaze.
At around 4pm this afternoon, emergency services received reports of a derelict building on Portway well alight and numerous fire crews were sent to the scene.
On arrival, firefighters discovered that two derelict buildings were ablaze.
The fire was extinguished using six breathing apparatus, two hose reels, two main jets and positive pressure ventilation, according to a fire service spokesperson.
SCENE UPDATE 9.15PM: Firefighters remain on scene ‘damping down’. The road has now reopened and power is being restored in vicinity.
