UPDATE: Man killed by train in Warminster ‘was living with dementia’
An air ambulance has been scrambled to a railway after a person was ‘hit by a train’.
Emergency services were called to the Warminster area following after a driver reported seeing a body on the line this evening (Saturday).
Wiltshire Air Ambulance is among the large number of 999 resources in attendance – landing nearby at around 8.30pm.
The railway line is blocked while the incident is dealt with. The British Transport Police are understood to be on scene alongside Wiltshire Police.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service also have a crew on scene.
Further details, including the condition of the casualty, are not yet known.
In a statement, Great Western Railway said: “Due to the ambulance service dealing with an incident near the railway between Westbury and Salisbury all lines are blocked.
“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
“Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway between Westbury – Salisbury, services will be heavily delayed or cancelled.”
