Police have launched a probe after a man died with serious injuries in Swindon.
Officers provided first aid to the victim, aged in his 20s, in Manchester Road after being flagged down by a member of the public at around 5.10am this morning (Wednesday).
Two ambulance crews and an ambulance operations officer arrived at the scene, giving urgent treatment. Despite their best efforts, the man died in hospital a short time later.
The man had sustained serious injuries, prompting Wiltshire Police to launch an investigation into the circumstances – and detectives aren’t ruling out murder.
The fatal incident happened on the doorstep of the shared house in the street – which was subject to a counter-terrorism raid back in May.
The force confirmed that at this stage, there’s nothing to suggest the death is linked to the previous terrorism arrest of a man, aged in his 20s, who lives at the address.
A crime scene is in place in Manchester Road and an adjacent alleyway as forensic work is carried out.
“This is a serious incident which has sadly resulted in a man losing his life”, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker said.
He continued: “An investigation is ongoing and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances that led to this man’s death.
“We are asking members of the public to help by sharing any information they may have in relation to this.
“We would especially like to hear from a male, who was on an electric bike, who initially approached officers to make them aware of the incident but then left the scene without leaving his details.
“We appreciate the concern the public will have, given the recent terrorism arrest in the area, however it’s important to stress that there is no information to suggest that this incident is linked.”
Officers are urging anyone who may have witnessed what happened or has any information about the circumstances surrounding the incident to get in touch.
Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dash cam or CCTV footage taken overnight.
