Visitors to the Royal United Hospital in Bath are being urged to plan ahead this weekend due to ‘major events’ – which are likely to cause significant travel disruption.
The hospital has issued a warning for Friday (13 June) to Sunday (15 June), as concerts and other events are expected to bring thousands of people into the city.
Robbie Williams is performing in Royal Victoria Park on Friday and Saturday, prompting road closures and changes to public transport.
Bath and North East Somerset Council has confirmed that Royal Avenue, from Marlborough Lane to Queens Parade, will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians from 8am on Thursday (12 June) until 8pm on Sunday (15 June).
On Friday and Saturday, Marlborough Lane between Upper Bristol Road and Royal Avenue, as well as Royal Crescent to Brock Street, will be fully closed between 8am and midnight.
Access through Royal Victoria Park via the Obelisk entrance will also be restricted during these hours.
The Bandstand footpath will remain closed from shortly after midnight on Friday until 1pm on Sunday.
Further closures will impact Marlborough Buildings, Royal Avenue, and the north side of Royal Crescent, with some restrictions remaining in place until Monday (16 June).
The Royal United Hospital is asking all patients and visitors to allow additional travel time and consider using public transport or Park & Ride services. These services will run later than usual, with buses operating until 11.30pm on both Friday and Saturday.
Rail passengers should check their routes in advance, as engineering works between London and South Wales may affect journeys.
A spokesperson for the Royal United Hospital said: “We expect increased traffic and travel disruption throughout the weekend.
“If you are travelling to the hospital, please plan your journey in advance and allow extra time to ensure you arrive safely and on time.”
