‘People keep breaching cordons’ at the Old Sarum Airfield fire scene, police say.

Wiltshire Police has been forced to re-issue its plea for locals respect the police tape following a major blaze on Thursday (17 April).

Firefighting has finished, but investigation work is ongoing – and the remains of the fire-damaged building is likely to be unsafe.

“We would urge the community not to break the cordon put up after a large fire at Old Sarum airfield”, a spokesperson for the force said this evening (Friday).

Adding: “The structure is very insecure, and we’d urge people to try to keep their distance from the site.

“Our officers will be carrying out regular patrols to try to make sure the cordons are being respected.

“If you were in the area shortly before the fire began, between 6pm and 6.40pm, we would urge you to contact us by calling 101 quoting log 262 of yesterday’s date (17/04).”
