UPDATE: CCTV shows acid attack suspects in village near Chippenham

Two suspects involved in an acid attack in Plymouth are believed to be hiding in Wiltshire.

A man, aged in his 20s, is understood to be fighting for his life in hospital following the serious assault in Devon Friday (21 February).

Officers working to trace the perpetrators think the duo were seen in Grittleton, near Chippenham, just hours after the attack took place in Lipson Road – find more coverage on Plymouth Plus.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Enquiries have led officers to look for witnesses who may have seen two men in their early 20s in the Grittleton area, close to the M4.

“The men are both described as being black males, in their early 20s, wearing all black clothing. It is believed they were in and around the Grittleton area on the morning of Friday (21/02).”

They added: “Officers investigating the assault are appealing for anyone who lives around the Grittleton area to check their CCTV and doorbell footage.

“Equally, officers are keen to hear from anyone driving in the area at the time with relevant dash-cam footage.

“Officers are particularly interested in identifying and speaking to a driver who is believed to have given the two suspects a lift.

“Anybody with information is asked to call Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 or visit the Devon and Cornwall Police website quoting 50250044972. Alternatively, you can anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

According to Plymouth Plus, DCI Lee Nattrass said confirmed that the force is treating the incident as a “targeted attack”, adding that there is “no wider threat” to the public.
