The iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to be the thinnest iPhone ever, with a predicted thickness of just 6mm. If this proves to be true, it would surpass the iPhone 6, which currently holds the record at 6.9mm.

The thinness of the iPhone 17 Air could enhance several aspects of the user experience. One immediate benefit would be improved portability. A thinner phone is easier to carry around, fitting comfortably in pockets or small bags, which is ideal for people constantly on the go. The slim design would also make the device feel lighter, improving comfort during extended use for activities like texting, browsing, or watching content.

Moreover, mobile gaming could benefit from the reduced thickness, as the more ergonomic and lightweight design would make the phone easier to hold during gaming sessions. Whether users are playing casual games, action-packed video games, or even enjoying casino-style gaming experiences, the thinner profile could make for a more comfortable and enjoyable time. As more gamers use their phones for iGaming online, the possible new thin design of the iPhone 17 Air is exciting as it means convenient and comfortable access for players to games like slots, poker, and blackjack online. With a mobile phone, bettors can already access online casinos, including domestic or international options. For example, in the UK players can wager on local sites regulated by the UKGC or they can choose to play on international sites. Increasingly, non-UK casino sites are growing in popularity as they offer bettors more flexible betting options and larger bonuses. But, regardless of where a player chooses to wager, the size of their device inevitably comes into play. With a thinner phone, more gamers may feel comfortable gaming for longer periods or holding their phone while they’re on the go.

The slim design of the iPhone 17 Air could also contribute to improved battery efficiency and heat management. Despite its thinness, Apple would likely focus on ensuring that the battery is still capable of supporting a full day’s use. The thinner profile would also provide better thermal management, reducing the chances of overheating during tasks like gaming or multitasking.

For comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models are expected to be about 8.25mm thick, while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are estimated at 7.8mm. Other models, such as the iPhone 14 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone 13 Pro, have a thickness of around 7.8mm to 7.65mm, while older models like the iPhone 6, 7, and 8 series range from 7.1mm to 7.3mm. Even though the iPhone 17 Air would be the thinnest iPhone ever made, it wouldn’t break Apple’s record for the thinnest product overall. That title belongs to the 2024 13-inch iPad Pro, which measures just 5.1mm in thickness, while the final version of the iPod Nano was 5.4mm thick.

As with any rumours, details about the iPhone 17 Air should be taken with caution, as they may change over time. However, it is widely expected that Apple will officially unveil the iPhone 17 Air in September 2025, and we can anticipate more official information as the release date approaches.
