A firefighter climbed through an upstairs window of a Swindon home after paramedics were unable to get inside to reach a patient.
The unusual intervention happened at a property in Meadowcroft on Sunday (13 September), when a crew from Marlborough Fire Station was called to assist the ambulance service.
With the ambulance crew unable to enter the property, firefighters were tasked with finding another way inside.
One member of the crew managed to gain entry through an upstairs window before making their way downstairs.
The firefighter then unlocked the front door from the inside, allowing the waiting ambulance crew to enter and assist their patient.
The call came during a busy weekend for the Marlborough crew, which had initially been mobilised to an incident in Swindon’s Old Town.
Firefighters were later sent to provide standby cover at Swindon Fire Station, but were called away again when the ambulance service needed their help.
Marlborough Fire Station highlighted the incident as an example of the work crews undertake beyond responding to fires.
Firefighters are regularly called to help the ambulance service gain entry to properties when crews are unable to get inside to reach a patient.
