A manhunt is continuing for the suspect in a stabbing in Swindon town centre.

Emergency services were called to Station Road, on the junction with Bridge Street, shortly before 6pm on Wednesday (23 October) following reports of a serious assault.

Eyewitnesses told Wiltshire 999s at the scene that the attacker shouted words to the effect of “What are you looking at?” before pulling out a small knife.

A disorder broke out, with the victim – a man aged in his 30s – stabbed in the upper arm up to five times, leaving gaping wounds that needed urgent treatment.

The victim’s injuries are not described as life-threatening or life-changing, Wiltshire Police said.

No description of the suspect has been provided by the force but witnesses say he was a “Jamaican man” – who fled the scene swiftly following the attack.

This morning (Thursday), police confirmed that the suspect remains outstanding.

In a statement shortly after the incident, a spokesperson said: “Officers responded to a reported stabbing at 5.46pm in Station Road, Swindon this evening (23/10).

“A man in his 30s was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which are not life changing or life threatening.

“There were no arrests made at the scene and our enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dash cam footage is asked to call us on 101 quoting log 266 of today’s date (23/10). In an emergency please call 999.”
