An air ambulance has been deployed after a van overturned in a serious A420 crash.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision between Giddeahall and Ford, west of Chippenham, shortly before 3.30pm today (Wednesday).
The incident involved a white Ford Transit Custom van and a white Mercedes-Benz A-Class – both of which sustained significant front-end damage.

The Ford appears to have rolled multiple times, coming to rest on its side.
Firefighters provided paramedics assistance in freeing one casualty from each vehicle. The van’s windscreen was completely removed, possibly as part of the rescue effort.

Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance landed in a nearby valley, with critical care medics providing treatment on scene.
Further details about the casualties involved has not yet been released by the emergency services. It’s believed at least one person was taken to hospital.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said that two crews from Chippenham were sent to the crash.
The crews “worked with paramedic colleagues to support two casualties from two vehicles”, coming away from the scene at around 5pm.

At 6.30pm the road remained closed in both directions for vehicle recovery work. Police also closed an unnamed road which leads to Slaughterford. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
In an earlier statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please be aware that the A420 at Ford, west of Chippenham, is currently closed following a serious collision.
“The road is currently closed in both directions. Please find alternate routes and allow extra time for journeys.”
