A main road in Swindon has been closed due to a fire at a house, with a young child taken to hospital for treatment.
Emergency services were called to Queens Drive this morning (Saturday) following reports of a blaze at a residential address.
Wiltshire Police confirmed the road is shut between Windsor Road and Rushton Road to allow emergency services to safely attend the scene.
A four-year-old child has been taken to hospital and is receiving treatment for smoke inhalation.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please be aware that Queens Drive in Swindon is currently closed between Windsor Road and Rushton Road – to allow emergency services to attend to a fire at a domestic property.
“A four-year-old child is being treated at hospital for smoke inhalation.
“Please seek alternative routes and expect delays in the area.”
The full circumstances of the fire are not yet known.
