An 18-year-old champion boxer who died in a horrific crash on the M4 in Wiltshire was speeding with cannabis in his system, an inquest heard.
As first reported by Wiltshire 999s, emergency services were called to the collision involving a black BMW between junctions 14 and 15 near Baydon at around 1.30am on 7 April 2020. The car had gone down an embankment, hit a barrier and rolled before landing on its roof.
Mohammed Hashim, from Cardiff, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the car, a 19-year-old woman suffered only minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
At the inquest this week, coroner Ian Singleton said: “Mohammed sustained the injuries which led to his death at the time the vehicle landed on its roof.
“On a balance of probabilities, the vehicle left the road due to a combination of excessive speed, the taking of cannabis and the lack of driving training and the passing of a driving test.”
