A woman was seriously injured as her car was rear-ended on a junction in Melksham.
The road traffic collision happened on the A365 Bath Road at around 2.10pm on Monday (10 February).
It involved a red Nissan Micra and a red Vauxhall Astra at the turning for Bowerhill Lane.
Wiltshire Police have confirmed that both vehicles were travelling in the same direction – out of Bowerhill, towards Seend.
It’s believed the Nissan came to a stop as the driver – a woman aged in her 40s – went to turn into Bowerhill Lane. The Vauxhall then struck the rear of the Nissan, causing significant damage.
In the rear-end shunt, the woman sustained potentially life-changing injuries. She was rushed to hospital for urgent care, where she remains today (Tuesday).
Firefighters had attended the scene to remove the roof of the Nissan with hydraulic cutting kit.
The driver of the Vauxhall, a man aged in his 30s, was uninjured.
Forensic collision investigation work was carried out overnight, lasting around ten hours.
