A woman has been offered money to get into a stranger’s vehicle in Trowbridge during a worrying incident in the Bythesea Road area.

Community Policing Team (CPT) officers are now investigating the very suspicious incident, which happened at around 10.40pm on Monday 17 April.

The woman was walking in the area when she became aware of a man who she believed was following her. The man was not known to the woman.

The man offered the woman a lift several times, and when she declined, he offered her money to get into his vehicle. The woman shouted at him and ran home.

The man is described as Indian or Turkish and was driving a red Vauxhall Corsa.

PC Gary Chambers said: “The woman describes this man as being very persistent which made her feel uncomfortable and alarmed.

“We would urge all residents when out and about to keep their personal safety in mind, and if you have any doubts or concerns about your safety, please call 999 in an emergency, or 101 to report an incident.”
