A Swindon woman who died in a tragic incident this weekend has been named locally.

Emergency services attended the scene on the M4 below the A4361 Croft Road bridge, near Wroughton, at around 2am on Saturday morning (1 October).

21-year-old Jodie Costello, from Wroughton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a tribute released by the police, Jodie’s family said: “Jodie was a well-loved daughter and sister and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. Please respect our privacy as we deal with our loss.”

This morning a group of her friends and colleagues paid tribute to her by visiting the spot where she died to leave flowers and release balloons.

Posting on Facebook, her former co-worker Gabby wrote: “Jodie, we took a trip to the bridge today. We’ve left you flowers and let off balloons.

“You were the nicest girl and so friendly to everyone. You never failed to make us smile especially with your funky coloured hair and we all loved you so much.

“It’s so hard to believe you’re gone and I’m gutted no one else will have the pleasure of meeting you and getting to know the beautiful person that you were.

“I will always remember you and hold a special place in my heart for you. You were an angel before and you’re our angel now rest in peace and know you were so loved.”

Another friend, Abbie, wrote: “It was such sad news to receive Jodie Costello. My thoughts and love go out to you, your family and friends.

“You were the sweetest, kindest and funny person I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. I will very much miss you, we all will. Nothing will be the same without you around.”

The incident is being investigated by Wiltshire Police, but aren’t believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding events.
