A woman’s been arrested after brandishing an axe in Swindon town centre tonight.
Several 999 calls to police about the incident brought officers racing to the scene after a customer was allegedly threatened with the weapon in a Manchester Road shop at around 9.45pm.
The woman is said to have then got into a wheelbarrow and been pushed by a male accomplice down Corporation Street, where they were nearly hit by a motorbike – sparking another 999 call.
Officers managed to locate the pair in Aylesbury Street where they were both arrested.
It’s not thought that anyone was hurt during the incident.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said “A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s were arrested on suspicion of affray. Both remain in custody in Gablecross.”
