A teenage boy has been left seriously injured after being attacked near Weymouth beach.
It happened at around 6.30pm on Sunday 14 August, when the victim – from Wiltshire – was with his friends on the beach near the Jubilee Clock Tower.
It’s understood the boy witnessed a group of men speaking to girls inappropriately and intervened in order to stop the unwanted behaviour.
As a result, he was assaulted by one of the males and sustained a serious injury which may require surgery and could suffer lasting effects.
The male offender is described as Asian or Indian, aged in his late 30s or early 40s, five feet ten inches tall and of stocky build with long black hair tied in a bun and a full beard. He was wearing a red T-shirt, dark-coloured shorts and a turban.
Police Constable Dan Goswell, of Weymouth police, said: “Our investigation is continuing and it has since come to light that the victim may now require surgery as a result of the injuries he sustained.
“I am aware the incident was a few weeks ago, but I understand the beach may have been busy at the time and I am keen to hear from any witnesses.
“Also, I would particularly like to speak to anyone who recognises the man from the description given.”
