A Wiltshire police officer has allegedly punched a man three times in a disorder at a bar.

Footage obtained by Wiltshire 999s shows around eight people involved in a disturbance at CobbStar Bar in Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday evening (6 December).

In the video, it appears an off-duty female police officer – who we are not naming at this stage – and others attempt to push several men out of the premises.

However, they manage to enter the building. The police officer proceeds to strike one man with a closed fist three times – once to the back of the head and twice to his back.

The man proceeds to attack another male within the bar. While this is ongoing, other assaults take place involving other parties at the establishment.

Wiltshire Police would not comment on their officer’s conduct. It it is not yet known what action, if any, has been taken against the officer following the incident.

A force spokesperson said that they are “aware of a video” which “appears to show a disturbance at CobbStar Bar”.

Adding that the “circumstances are subject to an ongoing investigation” and “it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage”.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them by calling 101 and quoting log 299 of 6 December.
