A large crime scene cordon has been in place around a park in Trowbridge for most of this morning following a serious assault, thought to have happened in the early hours.
Police officers were guarding the scene on Brown Street, where pools of blood could be seen. The cordon was in place until around 12.30pm, and extended down to the bridge to Tesco.
Forensic investigators were at the scene at 11am, swabbing parts of the bridge.
The victim of the attack is understood to have sustained serious head injuries.
A large number of police vehicles are parked on Bradley Road, thought to be at an address linked to this morning’s serious assault in the town centre.
Wiltshire Police refused to comment, saying that there was no incident ongoing.
