Emergency services raced to rescue a woman from a lake on Thursday night (25 July).

999 crews responded to reports of a person in distress jumping into Peatmoor Lagoon, off Shearwood Road, at around 11.30pm.

At the height of the incident, there were around eight police vehicles, several fire appliances and numerous ambulance resources on scene.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said it sent crews from Westlea and Swindon, and a technical rescue team from Stratton.

The woman was rescued from the water within 15 minutes of emergency services arriving, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.

The woman was suffering from a mental health episode at the time, the force confirmed.

The woman’s condition is unknown, but she is believed to have survived her ordeal.
