A Salisbury cemetery will remain closed on Mother’s Day as police continue to investigate the nerve agent attack on a former Russian spy and his daughter.
The cemetery on London Road has been cordon off by police, with forensic tents around graves of Sergei Skripal’s family – namely his son and wife.
Superintendent Chris Chammings said: “I appreciate this will affect families who wish to visit the graves of their loved ones and especially on Mothering Sunday.
“I am really sorry that we are not able to let people in to the cemetery at this time, but as this is a major on-going investigation I hope the public will understand why we have to do this.
“Please be assured that as soon as we can re-open the cemetery we will do so.”
