A Corsham cop has secured a new electric bike to assist in policing the town.
PC Adam Neish managed to convince Corsham Town Council to fund the bicycle – which will allow officers to cover more ground when on patrol.
The neighbourhood officer set up a similar scheme in Swindon, where he was previously based. It proved so successful there, he wanted to same for his new beat.
PC Neish said: “We are extremely grateful to the town council for this very welcome addition to our neighbourhood policing team.
“The bike enables us to reach areas where a car wouldn’t be able to, and provides more visibility for the community, not to mention the environmental benefits.
“Corsham is a very safe place to live and we are committed to ensuring it remains this way.”
Chair of Corsham Town Council, Cllr Helen Belcher OBE, said: “We have a very positive relationship with Corsham Neighbourhood Policing Team and felt that an e-bike would make their job even more effective, especially in the outlying parts of the parish.
“We look forward to hearing about the difference the e-bike makes in and around Corsham.”
