Two drivers have been arrested following a road traffic collision in Chippenham.
Two cars and a pedestrian were involved in the smash on the A420 Bristol Road shortly before 8pm last night (Friday 18 November).
The pedestrian, a young man, was rushed to hospital with injuries sustained in a collision with a white Volkswagen – though Wiltshire Police described his wounds as “minor”.
Police cordoned off the route between Hungerdown Lane and Bumpers Farm Roundabout for approximately three hours whilst the incident was dealt with.
The force confirmed that two arrests were made – both believed to be young men.
One driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision and failing to provide a specimen.
The other driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and dangerous driving.
Two cars – a white Volkswagen and a dark-coloured BMW – were pictured at the scene. It is not clear which vehicles the arrests correspond to at this early stage.
Seven police vehicles were present at the scene, at the junction for Middlefield Road until about 10.30pm when recovery was arranged. The route was open by 11pm.
