Two teenagers have been arrested after police were called to a report of a disorder in Toothill, Swindon, earlier today.
At around 12.30pm officers attended the Dunwich Drive area after receiving calls from members of the public about a potential altercation.
They carried out a search of the area and two boys, aged 13 and 14, have been arrested on suspicion of affray. They are currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.
Sergeant Georgina Romani, from the Swindon Community Policing Team, said: “We know that people living locally will have seen an increased police presence in the area throughout the afternoon and we don’t want them to be alarmed.
“The initial report we received suggested that weapons had been seen, and I can confirm that we have now located a large knife in a nearby garden.
“However, thankfully, it appears that nobody was injured.
“We know that a local school temporarily took children inside and sent a message out to parents, but please be reassured that at no point was there believed to be any risk to the wider public.”
She added: “You may notice increased patrols in the area throughout the evening, but please do not be alarmed.
“If you witnessed anything suspicious or you have any information which could assist this investigation, then please call us.”
