Two air ambulances landed in Swindon this afternoon, after a generator explosion left a man needing emergency medical treatment for serious burns at a hospital in Bristol.
Emergency services were called to Sewage Treatment Works on Barnfield Road at around 2.30pm this afternoon, with approximately 11 police cars at the scene of the serious incident.
A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at around 2.20pm to an incident on Barnfield Road, Swindon – involving a reported explosion.
“We attended with various resources including three ambulances, two air ambulances, and two hazardous area response teams.
“A male patient was taken by road ambulance to Southmead Hospital with serious burns.”
The Health and Safety Executive has been informed. We’ve approached them for comment.
The nature of the casualty’s injuries are unknown at this time.
