A Trowbridge businessman who abused a woman for two years has avoided a prison sentence.
Jason Ross pleaded guilty to a string of domestic violence offences and appeared at Winchester Crown Court on Monday (8 January) for sentencing.
The 45-year-old director of JMS Carpets and Flooring, based on Castle Street, admitted three counts of assault by beating and another of actual bodily harm against his ex-wife.
He also admitted engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour over two years – between January 2021 and January 2023.
As well as repeatedly assaulting the woman, the defendant examined her phone, made threats and cut her off from friends and family members.
Additionally, Ross pleaded guilty to assaulting the victim’s son – an 18-year-old boy.
The judge sentenced him to an 18-month community order. He must complete a 90-day alcohol abstinence programme and attend 25 rehabiliation activity days.
The defendant, of Yarnbrook Road, West Ashton, must also undertake 150 hours of unpaid work.
