A trio have been arrested after police visited a Trowbridge home which has been closed by the court over anti-social behaviour, including drug activity.
Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team attended the property in Bramley Lane to check nobody was inside unlawfully.
A three-month closure order granted by the court means only the named occupant, emergency services and other professionals are allowed to enter.
But during the recent visit by police, officers located three people inside – including one who attempted to hide inside a cupboard. They were arrested and charged.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Following a closure order address check by the Trowbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team at a residential property on Bramley Lane, Trowbridge, three men were located inside the address, including one found hiding in a cupboard (not the most successful hiding place!).
“All three men were arrested and have since been charged with breaching the closure order.
“Closure Orders are an important tool used by police, through applications to the Magistrates’ Court, to tackle criminality, anti-social behaviour and persistent nuisance.
“There are currently three residential properties in Trowbridge subject to Closure Orders.
“We will continue to take action and shut down premises where tenants or visitors undermine community safety and wellbeing.”
