There are delays on the train network in Wiltshire after two incidents on the tracks.
A person was hit by a train in Newbury at around 6.30am this morning (19 September) and moments after, a train is said to have damaged overhead electrical wiring in Southall.
Numerous services are significantly delayed or cancelled – including services through Swindon and Chippenham – following the incidents.
Whilst the line at Newbury is now clear after emergency services attended the scene, trains to Paddington remain caught up by the damaged wiring in West London.
In a statement, GWR wrote: “Due to damage to the overhead electric wires between Slough and London Paddington all lines are blocked.
“Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
“We are sorry for the delay to your journey today owing to damage to the OLE. Overhead Line Equipment or OLE is the name for the overhead wires and other equipment you can see on electrified railway lines.
“Some Local buses and other Train Companies are accepting GWR rail tickets in affected areas.”
