A man’s body was discovered at a popular Wiltshire beauty spot.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Shearwater Lake in Crockerton, near Warminster, at around 10.30am yesterday morning (23 September).
Several fire appliances, ambulances and police vehicles were all in attendance at the incident on the Longleat Estate.
The deceased male was reportedly discovered by a tea room worker who had noticed lights coming from the area the night before, sparking intrigue the following morning.
Following the discovery, 999 crews responded and an area – believed to be near The Boathouse – was cordoned off as a crime scene for more than two hours.
Detectives and forensic investigators were deployed to the incident to probe the man’s cause of death, soon after labelling it “non-suspicious”.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Shortly before 10.30am yesterday (23/09) we attended to support colleagues from South Western Ambulance and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service who were responding to reports of a deceased person at Shearwater Lake.
“Sadly this appears to be a non-suspicious death of an adult male.
“His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
