A Swindon woman has been killed in a crash involving a motorbike near Cirencester.

Emergency services responded to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the B4425 in Barnsley shortly before 8pm yesterday (Tuesday, 30 July).

A motorcyclist had left the road and hit a tree, causing the rider significant injuries.

The woman, aged in her 40s and from Swindon, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

“Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers”, a Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesperson said.

Adding: “Road closures remain in place between the B4425 Welsh Way and from the junction with the A417 while collision investigation work takes place.

“Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision and has not already spoken to police or who has dashcam footage they feel may be relevant.”

Information can be provided to the police by completing an online form and quoting incident 437 of 30 July.

The news comes days after two fatal motorcycle crashes in Wiltshire – one in Devizes on Saturday and another in Ashton Keynes on Sunday.

A biker was also airlifted to hospital following a crash near Trowbridge yesterday.
